KCB Foundation give Sh50m million Grant to support Vocational Training Centers in Kisii

The Kisii County Government in collaboration with the KCB Foundation, has announced a Sh50 million partnership aimed at bolstering vocational training across the region.

The funds were allocated to 12 vocational training centers spread across Kisii County, impacting over a thousand students and providing them with invaluable skills to support their future careers.

At the event in Gusii Stadium, the Kisii County Commissioner’s message, delivered by Administrative Officer Felistas Bumbao, highlighted the significance of the partnership and expressed gratitude towards the KCB Foundation and the County government for their unwavering support towards education.

“We are truly thankful for this remarkable gesture that will have far-reaching effects on the youth and the community as a whole,” noted the County Commissioner.

“This initiative will not only create opportunities for personal development but also provide critical skills that are necessary in today’s fast-evolving job market,” she added.

Speaking on behalf of the KCB Foundation, the Director, James Maganda, extended appreciations to the Kisii County government for their collaborative effort and emphasized the positive impact that the partnership will have on the beneficiaries.

“We are thrilled to be part of this initiative, which will empower young people across Kisii County. Over a thousand beneficiaries will directly benefit from this program. The KCB Foundation is committed to fostering youth empowerment through education, and we are confident that the Tujiajiri program will create significant change,” Maganda noted.

He also urged the parents of the beneficiaries to play an active role in supporting their children’s educational journey.

“The government has now covered the fees, and it’s now your turn as parents to provide the support needed for their success. Encourage them, stand by them, and help them make the most of this opportunity,” he added.

In his speech, Kisii Governor Simba Arati emphasized the broader vision for the County’s future, specifically in the health and agriculture sectors.

He called for continued collaboration to achieve the ambitious goals set for Kisii, with a clear focus on improving services and creating opportunities for growth.

“This partnership aligns with the County’s long-term development objectives. Together with the KCB Foundation and the people of Kisii, we will work towards a prosperous future for all,” Arati said.

He also mentioned that the training would be available across the 12 Vocational Training Centers located in Kisii’s nine Sub-counties, ensuring accessibility for youth in both urban and rural areas.

These centers are set to benefit significantly from the Sh50 million funding, which will help in the upgrading of facilities, training materials, and other essential resources.

The vocational centers include Nyahore Vocational, Nyaburumbas Vocational, Keumbu Vocational, Manyansi Vocational, Nyamagesa Vocational, Riatirimba Vocational, Irungu Vocational, Entange Vocational, Ekioga Vocational, Kenyenya Vocational, St. Kizito Nyamagwa Vocational, and Gotichaki Vocational Training Center.

The vocational program, part of the larger Tujiajiri Program, aims to equip students with practical, hands-on skills that will enable them to pursue self-employment or secure jobs in various industries.

This program focuses on developing competencies in areas such as agriculture, carpentry, construction, tailoring, among others.
