Kandie wins Baringo Central parliamentary seat

Joshua Kandie of UDA has won the Member of National Assembly (MP) for Baringo Central Constituency, after garnering 25,055 votes.

Kandie beat his closest competitor, Sammy Mwaita, who got 9,519 votes and was vying on an Independent ticket, while the third contender was John Boiywo, running on a Kanu ticket, who got 305 votes.

According to the Constituency Returning Officer, Gilbert Serem, 35,090 voters represented 76.42 per cent of the 45,920 registered voters cast in this year’s elections.

Speaking after the victory at Kabarnet Boys’ High School, the MP elect thanked the voters for voting for him in and promised to deliver on his manifestos.

William Cheptumo (UDA), vying for Senatorial position got 22,184, Gideon Moi (KANU) 12,229 and Felix Chelaite (TSP) got 395 votes while rejected votes were 244.

For Woman Representative post Eala MP, Florence Jematia of UDA got 27,468 votes followed by Gladwell Tungo of KANU with 4,030 votes and Rebecca Lomong of KUP party came third with 2,363 votes.
