Kamba Leaders Fault Muthama Over Political Stand

Mwala Chama Cha Uzalendo(CCU) coordinator Raphael Nzuki Kyalaani has advised former Machakos Senator Johnstone Muthama to be at the forefront in uniting the Kamba people instead of fighting his perceived detractors.
Speaking at Wamunyu yesterday, Kyalaani faulted the former legislator for his recent onslaught against Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka during a funeral ceremony in Muthetheni area on Friday where he openly criticised the former Vice President over his leadership prowess.
The CCU leader now wants Muthama to play a uniting role in the greater Lower Eastern Region, a move he argues will better position the area in the national limelight and propel development.
“Muthama needs to front himself as a uniting factor in the Ukambani region instead of constantly attacking Kalonzo over his leadership style. He should respect the former Vice President if he really wants to be recognised as a genuine leader who can be entrusted to take this region to a higher level,” he pointed out.
On Friday, Muthama clashed openly with Kalonzo at the funeral of Sammy Mulu, a son to former Ukambani political kingpin Mulu Mutisya, where he accused him of being a big letdown to the people of the three counties of Machakos, Kitui and Makueni.
During the brief verbal spat, Kalonzo on his part told off Muthama blaming him for twice misleading him when he advised him to join former Prime Minister and ODM leader Raila Odinga in a political pact that ended in humiliation during the 2013 and 2017 general elections.
The Wiper leader said he would never again be seeking guidance from Muthama and would instead negotiate by himself through any future political arrangement saying his vast political acumen places him ahead of the pack.
But Muthama stuck to his guns and blamed his former ally of being his own enemy and said he was planning to take his political support elsewhere.
Kyaalani now wants Muthama to embark on his political quest ahead of the 2022 general election without attacking other leaders arguing that this would taint his future political career.
“I understand Muthama wants to support deputy President William Ruto for the top seat come 2022.If that is the case, he should then leave Kalonzo alone and concentrate in building his political base including negotiating his way into becoming Ruto’s running mate,” said Kyaalani.
