The County Government of Busia through the Department of Infrastructure and Energy has handed over the Kakapel Cultural Centre in Angurai South Ward, Teso North Sub-County to the contractor to begin completion works on the stalled project.
The project which is under the department of Sports, Culture and Social Services will be fully funded by the County Government of Busia.
The building once complete will change the face of Kakapel Cultural centre which is a major tourist destination in Busia County housing important historical artefacts.
The Acting Director Sports, Culture and Social Services Peter Ogullah urged the Contractor to hasten the completion of the project as it will boost Tourism in the County.
The Contractor was given a six-month time frame to execute the project with the commencement date set for next week.
Angurai South Ward Administrator Silas Juma lauded the efforts of the Governor and Area MCA Grace Olita for pushing for the completion of the project which will be a major source of revenue to the County Government.
The Building Inspector in charge of Teso North Sub-County George Oyoda underscored the need to execute quality work as well as involvement of locals in the project.
