Kakamega County procures subsidized farm inputs for farmers

Kakamega County Deputy Governor (DG) Prof Philip Kutima has called on residents to register in numbers for the subsidised seed and fertiliser in preparation for the forthcoming planting season.

The DG disclosed that the county government has purchased 100,000 bags of maize seed and fertilizer for the targeted farmers.

“The county government will provide the farm inputs to 400,000 needy farmers in the county,” he told this reporter in an interview on Monday.

He added that the construction of Malava Dairy plant is on course and is expected to be complete by March 2021.

Once operational, he noted, the factory will provide a ready market for dairy products in the county and the region.

Prof Kutima asked the residents to venture into dairy farming to take advantage of the dairy processing plant.
