Kakamega County intends to construct modern housing

Kakamega County Government intends to construct modern flats at a cost of Sh6 billion that will ensure decent shelter for staff and residents.

Governor Wycliffe Oparanya, said the County will build 4,000 modern storied houses in Kakamega and Mumias Municipalities that will be sold to staff and other interested people.

He added that a developer who would set up 3,000 houses in the first phase of the housing scheme had identified.

Oparanya said a contract for construction of another 1,000 houses will be given to the private sector.

The Governor stated that old houses at Otiende and Amalemba Estates in Kakamega will be demolished to pave way for the construction of the new houses.
