The Kakamega County Government has donated foodstuffs to various Children Charitable Institutions (CCIs) in the County.
Speaking during the exercise, the County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for Social Services, Kassim Were, commended the institutions for caring and rehabilitating the vulnerable children in the society.
The CECM said there are 36 registered CCIs spread across the 12 Sub-counties, adding they intend to carry out monitoring and evaluation to understand their operating procedures.
The County Coordinator for Children Services (CCCS), Richard Masika, urged the CCIs to register with the government to access support.
Masika said they are in the final stages of formulating the County Children’s Policy which will provide the legal framework for handling the issues of vulnerable children.
