The Kajiado Central Huduma centre has treated over 200 residents to government services.
The one-day event saw residents benefit from services ranging from Birth Certificate Registration, Identity card application, Social Health Authority (SHA), Pensions, Social services, certificates of good conduct, KRA Pin, among others.
Kajiado Huduma Centre Manager, Mwajuma Massah, revealed that the Huduma Mashinani Programme is aimed at bringing services closer to the people.
She said many residents who live in remote areas lack vital documents such as ID cards and birth certificates due to the long distance and costs involved in accessing the government offices and Huduma Centre located in Kajiado town.
She said the outreach programme would also be conducted in various parts of the County and urged residents to show up in large numbers and take advantage of the opportunity to access government services and apply for vital documents.
Most of the residents who turned up for the Huduma Mashinani event at Enkaroni were seeking registration for Birth Certificates and the Social Health Authority.
The residents applauded the Huduma Centre team for bringing the services to their doorstep, adding that it was long overdue.
They said it was costly to travel to the government offices in Kajiado town to seek services, as they live in far-flung areas and are only forced to do so when it is a compulsory requirement to have particular documents.
Emmanuel Santi, one of the beneficiaries of the outreach, called for frequent Huduma Mashinani services in the area to ensure more people, especially the sick and elderly, are reached.
Santi said bringing the services closer to them has helped them save time and money, which they would have incurred in seeking the vital documents.
“The Huduma Centre has done us proud for bringing the services nearer to us; this has saved us residents of Enkorika time and money. We wish for this to be happening often in this area and other remote areas, where there are more likely disadvantaged people like us when it comes to getting government services,” a beneficiary of the event said.
Elijah Keyian, another resident who had shown up to apply for an Identity Card, reiterated that the Huduma Mashinani services were timely.
Keyian said he had not bothered applying for the ID Card, because he did not have the fare to travel to Kajiado town to apply for it.
Huduma Mashinani is a citizen-centred mobile outreach programme spearheaded by the Huduma Centre that brings services closer to the people at a grassroots level.
