Police in Ngong Kajiado County have arrested a man suspected to have killed his wife in Oloolua area on Tuesday morning.
Kajiado North Sub-County Police Commander, Rashid Mohammed said the man who was earlier thought to have escaped to Narok through Suswa Road, was arrested in Kibiko town following a tip off from members of the public.
“While acting on a tip-off, police arrested him in a house he was hiding in. We are waiting for him to be brought in so we can interrogate him before he is taken to court and charged,” said Mohamed.
According to eye-witnesses, the man followed his wife to her shop in Oloolua town and the two were heard engaging in an argument. Shortly after, the man stabbed his wife severally with a knife before escaping. The woman was rushed to Zam Zam hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.
Henry Kinyanjui, a businessman at Oloolua trading center said he knew the couple well, adding that the incident had shocked him.
He said the couple that has three children were embroiled in frequent domestic wrangles but he never expected it to reach that extent.
“The two have been fighting severally but it had never reached this level as they have always managed to solve their issues. We are really shocked and saddened by this incident,” said Kinyanjui.
Meanwhile, criminals operating in Kajiado North sub-county have been put on notice ahead of the festive season.
Sub-County Police Commander assured residents of their security as they went about their businesses and warned those planning to disrupt peace by engaging in crime that they would be dealt with accordingly.
Mohamed said security personnel were on high alert to deal with any emerging security threats during the festive season.
