Kajiado East Member of Parliament Kakuta Ole Maimai has overseen the disbursement of National Government Constituencies Development Fund bursaries worth Sh 33 million with 6100 learners benefiting.
Giving out bursaries in Kitengela Ward, the MP stated that the bursaries were distributed in a fair and transparent manner and beneficiaries were drawn from every location in each of the five wards the constituency.
Kitengela ward which is densely populated got Sh5,969,000 for secondary students and Sh5,865,000 for tertiary and university students.
Oloosirkon-Sholinke ward was allocated Sh1.2 M for secondary students and Sh925,000 for tertiary and university students.
“I continue to insist that we do due diligence in selecting the beneficiaries of the bursaries so that only the neediest benefit. I urge members of the public to submit their complaints regarding the committees if any, to my office and desist from solving issues on social media,” said Ole Maimai.
The MP added that he is committed to building learning institutions in the constituency in order to bring empowerment through education as an educated society can make informed decisions that will positively affect their destiny.
Eunice Sakian, one of the parents of the beneficiaries thanked the MP for disbursing bursaries before schools reopen for the second term saying doing so will save on time and transport costs that could have been spent if the needy students were sent back home for lack of school fees.
