Jubilee gubernatorial candidate for Kajiado county Dr. David Nkedianye has disputed preliminary results being released from the county constituency tallying centres.
He said that he has no confidence with IEBC and has written to the County Returning officer, Festus Mucheke to express his dissatisfaction.
Along with the letter, Nkedianye has also reported to the police claiming evidence of election malpractices and says he wants justice to prevail.
“Ballot boxes from Dr. Likimani primary and Olturoto primary polling stations were submitted to the Kajiado East Constituency tallying centre late and we are finding seals that we do not know where they are coming from,” said Nkedianye.
He also cited an incident where IEBC officers were found tampering with ballot boxes in the Kajiado East constituency tallying centre as one of his reasons for disputing the preliminary results.
“We will take action to ensure that justice is done and the election is free and fair because as it stands now, there are election malpractices happening,” said Nkedianye.
He said that he won’t accept the election results if his concerns have not been dealt with accordingly, noting he will follow the law and go to court if need be.
Vote tallying is still ongoing in Kajiado East, West, Central and North constituency tallying centres.
According to the IEBC portal only Kajiado South constituency tallying centre has released the final gubernatorial results as per this morning.
UDA’s candidate Katoo ole Metito is leading with 26,401 votes while ODM’s Joseph Lenku follows closely with 21,503 votes and Jubilee’s David Nkedianye has 3,172 votes while Ambrose Kago who is an independent candidate has 208 votes.
