Jubilation among Kenyans as Ruto is declared President-Elect

Molo Sub-County residents took to the streets to celebrate after IEBC declared, William Samoei Ruto, as the President-Elect for the Republic of Kenya.

The big announcement that was anxiously being waited upon by the residents, was made by the IEBC Chairman, Wafula Chebukati, yesterday evening, at the National Tallying Centre, Bomas of Kenya, Nairobi.

Local residents, confident with the transparent election process by the Commission, expressed their faith that it was Ruto’s time to lead the country and were optimistic that he was going to prioritize development agenda, thus improving the livelihoods of many.

They thanked God for his (Ruto) election and urged him to deliver as per their expectations, saying that his move to work closely with others in his leadership would be of service to Kenyans in promoting peace harmony as well.

Ruto who vied for the presidential seat on a UDA ticket won with 7,176,141 votes that translates to 50.49% against his close competitor Azimio la Umoja presidential candidate, Raila Amollo Odinga, who garnered 6,942,930 votes that is 48.89%.

The seat attracted other two contesters who are Wajackoyah George who came in third position and Waihiga Mwaure at position four but had earlier conceded defeat before conclusion of the counting of votes exercise.

In a spot check by KNA this morning, people in Molo were back to their day to day activities and eagerly awaiting for their children to resume school too.
