Journalists donate foodstuff during World Press Freedom Day

Uasin Gishu County journalists under the Uasin Gishu Journalists Association (UGJA) celebrated the World Press Freedom Day 2022 in a unique way at the Jesus Love Ministries Orphanage home, where they distributed foodstuffs and cooked meals to the children.

After donating foodstuffs which included beans, rice, flour, milk, and sugar the journalists spent the day at the children’s home, located near Langas Estate as they shared a meal and interacted with the children, carrying out various chores as a sign of love and encouragement.

The journalists led by their Chairman, James Gitaka, used the event to call upon media managers and owners to consider increasing pay for journalists, due to the challenges faced by many, following inflation and general poor economy.

Highless Makungu, who represented the overjoyed 70 children at the Center thanked the journalists for their gesture, as she appealed to other well-wishers to continue supporting them with food and non-food items.
