Joseph Kimutai wins Kipkelion East parliamentary seat

Joseph Kimutai has emerged the winner of the Kipkelion East constituency Parliamentary seat with 36, 066 votes against his opponent Joseph Limo who was Independent candidate trailing with 11,268 votes.

During the announcing of the results Wednesday evening, Kipkelion East constituency returning officer Mantai Messopirr also unveiled the Members of County Assembly who managed to garner votes for the seats in the four wards in the area including Londiani which had two candidates, Kedowa Kimugul four candidates, Chepseon six candidates and Tendeno Soget four candidates.

In Londiani Ward, Richard Korir Kipkirui garnered 9,098 votes as Richard Cheruiyot Langat of Kedowa ward garnered 4,674 votes.

This as, Tendon Soget ward MCA Moses Rotich got 4,081 votes while David Martim Kipkorir of Chepsion ward got 9,862 votes.

All the elected MCA’s in Kipkelion East Constituency were UDA party members.

During the official pronouncement of the winners, Mr Messopirr pointed out that the voter turnout in the Constituency was 74.79%.

Residents who spoke to KNA expressed their optimism of a better future with the elected leaders noting that the previous ones had failed to enhance development projects in the area.

Meanwhile, data from the IEBC indicates that the total number of registered voters in Kipkelion East Constituency was 63,679 with 140 polling stations.
