Jacaranda FC and Kingandole Girls are the Butula National Government Constituency Development Fund (NGCDF) champions after winning their respective finals that ended on Tuesday.
Jacaranda from Marachi East were crowned men’s champions after beating Bumutiru 1-0 in a thrilling final played at Kingandole Secondary School grounds.
Jacaranda captain Alfred Wesonga attributed their victory to teamwork and fighting spirit that paid off fruit.
“Our coaches guided us to realize fruitful results. Our opponents played well but couldn’t match our style of play, which was exemplary compared to them,” said Jacaranda captain Wesonga.
Jacaranda FC displayed tactical discipline in their defense to keep-off pressure from their competitors in the finals.
Kingandole Principal Mr Muli thanked Butula NG-CDF patron Hon. Joseph Oyula for sponsoring the event, noting that it has helped football nurture talents in the area.
After 1-1 draw, Kingandole queens thrashed Elukhari girls 4-2 victory in penalty with their short- stopper violet Akinyi saving 2 penalties.
The teams from Butula Constituency will face their Bumula counterparts in the regional games to be played at Mumias complex from 15th November 2023.
Butula Sports chairman Abel Otele said the regional soccer tournament has attracted 16 constituencies, whose matches will be played on a knockout basis.
“The combined team for both boys and girls started training camp today at St Catherine Special School. The camp will take seven days before the team’s departure for Mumias on 14th November 2023,” he said.
Otele applauded Butula Member of Parliament Hon Joseph Oyula for donating three buses, two to ferry fans to cheer the teams, and one bus for players and team officials.
The organizers have selected 18 players for both boys’ and girls’ teams to carry the hopes of the constituency at regional level.
