Devolution Principal Secretary Teresia Mbaika has called upon parents to invest in the education of their children.
Mbaika said education is the best ever form of inheritance that parents can bequeath their children, as it brings about equality in society and enables the children to acquire the requisite skills for the competitive job market.
“Education remains the equaliser in modern society, shaping our children to become good communicators and eventually secure jobs from where they can serve the country,” said the PS, while speaking at the AIC Mwaani Mixed Secondary School during a fundraiser to buy a bus for the institution.
During the event that was also used as prize-giving day for the school, Mbaika challenged students to be disciplined and work hard so that they can be successful in this life.
On talents, the PS revealed the government was ready to nurture gifted students to make them even better, and enable them to fend for themselves in the future.
“The government is keen to help students endowed with talents to make them self-reliant,” she noted.
On politics, Mbaika urged local leaders to avoid divisive politics but instead work closely with other officials, especially those from the national government, in a bid to foster development in the county.
Speaking at the same function, Kaiti Constituency Member of Parliament Joshua Kimilu said that he will increase the local school’s bursary kitty to Sh2 million to ensure more students continue with their studies without undue disruption.
