Installation of floodlights

The Nakuru City Board is set to start installing floodlights within KMC London Ward to improve security and well-being of residents in the area.

The City’s technical team led by City Manager Mr Gitau Thabanja has identified key areas within the informal settlement that are in urgent need of floodlights.

The team toured the area yesterday and engaged with residents, listening their concerns and gathering feedback on pressing security issues in the community.

Residents expressed relief and appreciation for the intended move noting that improved lighting will significantly reduce crime and enhance safety during evening hours.

The detailed assessment also identified the need for the construction of an ablution block to address basic sanitation needs contributing to the overall well-being of the community.

Mr. Thabanja assured residents that the floodlight installation will begin promptly and emphasized the City Management’s commitment to ensuring that KMC receives necessary infrastructures improvement.

He said this initiative is part of the county’s broader efforts to enhance public safety and infrastructures across the city reflecting a proactive approach to community development and responsive governance.

The chairman of Wazee wa Nyumba Kumi (community policing elders), James Njuguna while commending the county for their effort to boost safety in the informal settlement said the floodlights have the capacity of reducing insecurity faster than any other interventions because criminals avoid areas with bright lights.
