Improved road networks spurs growth in development in Kiambu

Ndeiya Sub-County in Kiambu County which was once underdeveloped has recently seen immense growth due to the construction of new roads within the area leading to the increase in land value.

The recently constructed Thogoto-Mutarakwa road has had a major boost in the development of Ndeiya Sub-County as people living in the area are now able to transport their farm goods with ease.

The improved road networks have also seen Ndeiya connect to Nakuru-Nairobi Highway and Southern bypass.

Ndeiya has seen a tremendous increase in property value. In the past an acre of land was sold at approximately Sh300, 000 but with the new road, the same is going for approximately Sh3.7 million.

Speaking to KNA, the Chief Officer Department of Land Housing and Physical Planning Edmund Njihia said that the improved road infrastructure within Ndeiya Sub-County has been received well by the locals and has made the area improve in terms of development.

“Locals in Ndeiya have expressed optimism of the new roads. The area has attracted people and with this, the area has seen an increase in population as people are now opting to move from congested towns to this town,” he said.

Through the improved roads, Njihia said that in Ndeiya new investors and new businesses have been opened up and people could easily have access to social amenities giving an example of the SGR passing through Mai Mahiu that he noted would greatly impact the area.

Meanwhile, other roads that have been improved include the Mau Mau Road in Kiambu, Gatundu South and North, Guthunguru and Lari roads. The roads have eased transportation within the areas.

Kiambu County Government has seen the rehabilitation of rural access roads under the roads maintenance programme in Ting’ang’a Ward, Kiambu sub county.

The County Government led by Governor James Nyoro recently upgraded the bitumen Standard of Uchumi to JKUAT gate A road which is expected to ease traffic in Juja town.

The county has also launched construction of Gwa-Kairu road in Theta Ward, Juja sub-County and Kahawa Wendani-Kiuu River road in Ruiru Sub-county that is set to ease transportation by decongesting the populous residential areas.
