Over 5000 sachets of second generation alcohol of unknown value were confiscated by Security Officers in Rachuonyo East Sub County on Thursday evening.
The illegal alcohol, Simba Waragi packed in five sacks of 90 kg each were intercepted at Kawuor and Kasewe locations when the owner was preparing to distribute them at a local pub within Kadongo trading centre.
Speaking to KNA, Rachuonyo East Deputy County Commissioner (DCC), Jack Obuo and the area Sub County Police Commander (SCPC), Charles Barasa said that the liquor was transported in the area last week from unknown location and was ready to be sold at various pubs in the region.
Obuo said that police officers received information regarding stocking of the illegal alcohol from concerned members of the public. The liquor was set for transportation to a local pub within Kadongo when the police intercepted it.
He added that the owner of the illicit brew managed to escape police arrest after receiving information that the officers were going to conduct a raid at his place.
The DCC said they have launched manhunt for the suspect who is still at large adding that the illegal alcohol
was later burnt after interception.
He warned the traders in the area to desist from engaging in illegal alcohol, saying anybody who will be found dealing with the business will face arrest and prosecution.
