Ijara Member of Parliament Abdi Ali Sheikhow has said he will put his focus on the education sector by investing a lot of money in it to make area students do well in examinations.
Sheikhow was speaking on Friday when he paid a visit to Masalani Boarding Primary School in Masalani town for the first time since being elected and said he will sponsor students from needy backgrounds in order for them to access education, reiterating that education levels the ground for all.
The MP, who was accompanied by four MCAs, said, “I will invest in the education of the children to prepare them for future assignments in serving the community.”
Sheikhow said he would support bright children in the area who excel in examinations but miss school fees to continue with their education.
He expressed his commitment to working with the government to ensure the success of education in the area, especially the competency-based curriculum that focuses on formative assessment, saying each child has his or her own capabilities that need to be developed.
Ijara Deputy County Commissioner, Mr. Wachira Chempton, said the government has put a mechanism in place to ensure schools do their daily business without any security disruptions.
He asked residents, including parents, government departmental heads, teachers, political leaders, imams, and community elders, to ensure the education of area children was of the highest quality.
He promised he would work a notch higher to ensure examinations are not disrupted by Al Shabaab terrorists, as they have been doing in the past.
Mr. Chempton lauded the MP for using the national government constituency development fund to pay school fees for dozens of poor students in the area.
The MP was accompanied by departmental heads, MCAs Yunis Abdi (Masalani Ward), Muhyadin Abdi (Sangailu Ward), Maslah Muktar (Ijara Ward), Adow Omar (Hulugho ward), and Ijara Sub County Director of Education Mr. Ibrahim Adowa among others.
