Igembe South Member of Parliament (MP) John Paul Mwirigi has established a Youth Empowerment Centre to nurture various talents, besides improving academic standards of youth in his constituency.
“We need to nurture the various talents among the youth to supplement academics as a source of economic empowerment for our youth and this will only be possible through establishment of a Youth Empowerment Centre,” said the MP.
The legislator who was speaking Saturday during a function to issue the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) bursaries at Igembe Boys’ Secondary school in Igembe South Sub – county further assured the applicants that they would all be allocated bursaries despite their huge number.
He said although over 15,000 needy cases, both in secondary and tertiary institutions applied for 2021 bursary allocations, his office will ensure all received a share of the CDF kitty.
The MP further disclosed that his office is partnering with other agencies of the government to ensure that the schools are prepared to allow learning amid the Covid-19 pandemic when schools resume on Monday.
“Our office is also working tirelessly in partnership with other government agencies and well- wishers to ensure more classrooms and desks are availed in our schools to allow for the requisite social distancing besides providing sufficient water and soap and some sanitizers in the schools,” he said.
Mwirigi advised the area residents to apply for admission into Maua campus of the Kenya Medical Training College, as being a new local campus, they stand higher chances of being admitted.
