Residents of Bungoma and its environs will now be able to access Intensive Care Unit (ICU) facilities following the launch of this facility at a local private hospital.
The Governor, Bungoma County Kenneth Lusaka commended the efforts of private health facilities in boosting the health sector in the County.
Governor Lusaka was speaking at Hopkins Medical Centre Tuesday during the commissioning of an ICU facility at the hospital.
He said that the County has 295 health facilities out of which 162 were being run by the County Government while 133 were private.
He noted that the population of the County was rising fast and asked other private investors to put up more private health facilities to support those by the County government.
The Governor noted that the County was set to host Madaraka Celebrations in June this year and that it was important that the existing health facilities are well equipped for any emergencies.
The Director of Hopkins Medical Centre Dr. Ombonyo Omweri said that the hospital was making efforts to expand its operations in other towns in the area.
