Mumias East Member of Parliament Benjamin Washiali has declared his support for Deputy President WiliamRuto during the 2022 General elections.
Speaking during the burial of Busia County Secretary of Maendeleoya Wanawake Grace Buluma in Nambale Sub County on Saturday, Washiali said that he will vote for a fresh candidate.
“As Washiali, I will not support any presidential candidate who has contested and lost,” he said adding that leaders are chosen by God.
Activist OkiyaOmtata in a quick rejoinder dismissed Washiali’s claims that RailaOdinga had lost elections after several attempts arguing that his victory was ‘stolen’.
Omtata argued that Raila had been rigged out five times and urged the local residents to rally behind him in 2022 for the post of presidency.
Leaders who spoke at the forum described the late Buluma as a selfless leader, politician and mobiliser whose demise was not only a loss to Busia County but the entire country.
Deputy President WiliamRuto in his condolence message read on his behalf by Busia Assistant County Commissioner Christine Chelagat said the deceased will be remembered for nurturing young Kenyans.
“We have lost a great woman who served the nation with dedication and love,” read part of his speech.
The late Buluma died 10 days ago after being elected as a member of Busia County Engagement forum aimed at countering violent extremism.
