Scores of people were last Thursday screened at no cost for kidney related dailments at the Kakamega County Referral Hospital.
Those diagnosed with diseases were booked into the hospital where they will begin treatment next week as they also get counseled.
The hospital medical superintendent Dr. Victor Tsimbulu’s said the exercise was aimed at encouraging the public to know the status of their organs early so that they commence treatment.
He said complications of kidney diseases would be minimised if diseases were identified and treated early.
The occurrence of the kidney failure and other related diseases, he added, would subsequently be controlled.
The exercise was preceded by a procession led by medics in the streets of Kakamega town to sensitise the residents on kidney health.
They waved banners and donned T-shirts written inscribed “Kidney Health for everyone, everywhere”.
