Huduma mashinani outreach benefiting Nyeri residents

Nyeri residents are set to benefit from a mobile service outreach programme dubbed Huduma Mashinani geared towards bringing services closer to residents.

The one-day outreach is scheduled to take place at the Whispers Park in Nyeri town tomorrow and is a joint collaboration between Huduma Centre, Kenya Cancer Institute and the Nyeri County government.

Some of the Huduma Kenya services that will be offered include processing of duplicate Identity Cards, issuance of birth certificates and certificates of good conduct as well as pension services.

The Nyeri Huduma Centre manager, Florence Ndunge, said that they will also be attending to form four leavers seeking service from the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) and Kenya Accountants and Secretaries National Examination Board (KASNEB).

Ndunge also urged boda boda riders who are yet to register afresh to take advantage of the one-day outreach programme to get their details captured before the June 24 deadline.

“We will also be carrying out boda boda registration on site. Those riders who have not had an opportunity to register themselves, they are highly welcome to come and register,” she said.

In March this year, the government launched a 60 days nationwide boda boda operators’ registration exercise as a way of streamlining the sector and promoting road safety and security for both the operators and their customers.

During the exercise, qualified riders would be issued with Smart Driving Licenses in a move that was meant to weed out rouge and unlicensed riders from the roads.

In addition to the government services, the Wednesday outreach programme will see residents benefit from free medical checks. According to Ndunge, Huduma Centre has partnered with the National Cancer Institute to sensitize participants about cancer and to provide free screening for breast, prostate and cervical cancer.

“In addition to cancer awareness, we will also be giving free blood sugar, hypertension and Body Mass Index checks. We will also be administering Covid-19 and Human Papilloma Virus vaccine during the outreach which will kick off at 8:30 am,” she said.
