Homa Bay county moves to maintain roads

Contractors in Homa Bay have been asked to ensure quality work in improving and maintaining roads in the region.

This is after the contractors were issued with contract letters to commence with the road maintenance work.

Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga who presided over the event said that the move was aimed at improving the state of roads in the county, and cautioned the contractors against shoddy work saying that the output will be highly scrutinized.

Addressing the press during the ceremony, she urged the contractors to perform their work properly to transform the county.

She informed them that they had created a Project Management Committee (PMC) System to allow members of the public to rate and approve their work after completion.

“We have created a PMC system so that community members can approve that the roads are properly constructed on behalf of the team and I,” she said.

The County Executive Committee (CEC) Member for Roads Dr. Danish Onyango echoed these sentiments and urged the contractors to do a good job and set standards that other contractors will emulate in the future.

“We are openly and publicly issuing letters of contract to successful contractors to go and maintain our roads. As we issue these letters, we also urge them to commit that they will do a good job,” he said.
