Hola Town to be elevated to a Municipality

Hola Irrigation Scheme Land will be reduced by 2,500 Acres for the expansion of Hola Town to the level of a Municipality.

Hola Irrigation Scheme administration has agreed to hive off the 2,500 acres of land to enable Hola Town be expanded to a Municipal.

Speaking before a National Assemble Parliamentary Committee on Municipals that was led by MP Kitui East Nimrod Mbai in Hola over the weekend, Tana River County Commissioner Omar Beja said plans are at advanced stage for Hola Town to grow to the level of a Municipality therefore; more land is needed for expansion.

Mr. Beja said, already Hola Irrigation scheme administration has agreed to donate 2,500 acres of Land for the expansion of Hola Town to the status of a Municipal.

The County Commissioner disclosed that already a Technical Committee on the division of Hola Irrigation scheme land has been formed that will identify the 2,500 acres and in a period of one month, the report will be submitted to the Parliamentary Committee on Municipals for necessary action.

Also present was the Galole MP Said Hiribae Buya alias Saidi Posta who initiated the plan of getting Land from Hola Irrigation Scheme for the Municipality.

Mr. Buya said, there was lack of enough Land for the expansion to Hola Town to a Municipal hence, there was need to get a few acres from Hola Irrigation Scheme for the project to be completed.
