Rachuonyo deputy county commissioner Dennis Kieti has assured residents the govt will consider setting up another National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB) depot in Oyugis
The DCC said the depot will facilitate ease access to the government subsidised fertiliser during distribution
Earlier the residents led by Fred Owino, the Luo council of elder representative in Kachien location had praised the government over the fertiliser subsidy programme
They said the fertiliser has increased food production ensuring food security.
However, they lamented the cost of collecting the fertiliser from Kendu bay depot was a burden negating the good intention of the government
They asked the government to consider bringing the NCPB depot near saying this will help to cut on expense of transporting the fertiliser from the current depot
The commissioner said already there is an available store at the assistant county commissioner’s office compound in Oyugis as he promised to liaise with the NCPB officials to ensure the depot is available.
The deputy commissioner was speaking Thursday during celebrations to mark the 61st Jamhuri day held in Karabok primary school ground.
Several officials from both county and national government graced the occasion.
Evans Ndege the ODM chairperson in Kasipul constituency representing the area MP Hon. Charles Ongondo Were addressing the gathering saying they fully support the broad based govt formed by his excellent president William Ruto
“We as a party we have to support what Raila Amolo Odinga as our leader says. If we have peace, we will have development,” Mr Ndege said.
The ODM party chair said they appreciate what the president and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga did.
He appreciated the development programmes being carried out by the elected leaders in the region and promised to work closely with government officials saying in Kasipul they are a peaceful people.
