Some 1,286 Inua Jamii beneficiaries in Mwala Sub County are set to receive Sh102.9 million under the social protection programme.
Those in the payroll include 635 orphaned and vulnerable children, 534 older persons and 117 people with severe disabilities.
Mwala Children’s Officer Sarah Solomon said each beneficiary will receive Sh8, 000 in arrears for two cycles. The last payments were done in June 2021. “The payments started last Monday for the months of July, August, September and October,” said Solomon.
Each beneficiary receives a monthly stipend of Sh2, 000 paid on a bi-monthly basis.
The children officer speaking to KNA today in her office also disclosed that account opening for those without bank accounts and retargeted beneficiaries was ongoing as well as approval and verification for those with new accounts including those who changed banks.
She however said beneficiaries whose new bank accounts have not been verified will receive the payment in their old accounts.
“For those beneficiaries who have switched from one bank to another and their accounts verified will receive the stipend in the new accounts,” added Solomon.
She also disclosed that there are plans by the Ministry to replace deceased or graduated beneficiaries.
“The Ministry will announce the dates for replacement through its officers, local media and community structures,” added the children’s officer.
