Gov’t puts Kilgoris-Lolgorian road contractor on notice

The National Government has issued a one-month notice to the contractor constructing the Kilgoris-Lolgorian Road.

Speaking after inspecting development projects in Transmara, Narok County Commissioner (CC), Isaac Masinde, said that the County Development Implementation Committee was embarrassed with the pace at which the Road was being done.

Masinde said that the government won’t hesitate to terminate the contractual agreement and give someone who can expedite the works to ensure that the public gets the value for the money.

“We have begun the process of terminating the contract for the Kilgoris-Lolgorian Road and am sure within the next one month, somebody else will be given the mandate to oversee the construction,” he said, as he warned other contractors undertaking government projects, to ensure strict adherence to timelines.

However, the CC was happy with the ongoing construction of the Kilgoris-Lolgorian Water Supply and Sanitation Project where he revealed that 60 per cent of the work had been done.

The construction of the Water project is sponsored by Government of Kenya in collaboration with African Development Bank to the tune of Sh800 million.

The implementation is being overseen by China State Construction and Engineering Company and was launched in January 2021 and it is to be completed by 31st July 2022.
