The Government through the Office of the Prime Cabinet Secretary (OPCS), working together with the National Government Coordination Secretariat (NGCS), is strengthening systems to ensure high-priority projects are not only hastened but effectively completed to deliver services to the citizens.

Speaking when he led a team to inspect various key projects in Uasin Gishu County, the Chief of Staff, Office of the Prime Cabinet Secretary (OPCS), Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs (MFDA), Joseph Busiega, pointed out that the inspection aims at establishing the implementation status of the high-priority projects and programmes identified within the Rift Valley region.
The OPCS, NGCS, the Government Delivery Services (GDS) and other government agencies (that constituted the inspecting team) through the ‘whole of Government Approach’ inspected high-priority projects, which included E-voucher input system to support 2 million farmers—NCPBs, Universal Broadband Connectivity – Uasin Gishu County, Affordable Housing Projects (Kidiwa, 220 units and Kapseret, 2261 units), Eldoret Law Courts and the Development of New SEZs – Eldoret.
Other key Projects visited by the team are Kesses Market, the Modernisation of New Kenya Cooperatives Creameries—NKCC Eldoret, the Expansion of Technical Vocational Education and Training—Eldoret National Polytechnic TTI, Eldoret, and the Model Context Protocol (MCP) projects at Eldoret International Airport, among others.
“This is not a fault-finding mission, but a mission to find and sort out issues hampering completion of projects and find ways to ensure they are effectively completed,” noted Busiega.
He indicated that the high-priority projects of the government should be aligned to the Fourth Medium-Term Plan 2023–2027 (MTP IV) and the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation.
Agenda (BETA) for Inclusive Growth, which goes a long way to spur national development.
Additionally, the projects need to follow the requirements of Schedule 7 of the budget, which is part of a circular related to the preparation of the Medium-Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) budget, outlining sector budget proposals.
Noting that the president gave a directive to the OPCS-MFDA to coordinate the projects, Busiega affirmed a commitment to continue working together with Regional Coordinators (RCs) and other government agencies to ensure the high-priority projects are not only hastened but also successfully completed.
“The exercise has been successful; we have noted areas of concern that require attention. we shall follow up to ensure the issue is sorted out,” said Busiega.
