Gov’t creates new sub-county in Kiambu

Ndeiya is the newest Sub-County within Kiambu County, after it was inaugurated by the Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr. Fred Matiang’i and the Principal Secretary for Interior Eng. Karanja Kibicho

Ndeiya ward has been hived off from Limuru sub-county to bring servicers closer to the residents.

The new administrative unit brings to 14, the total number of sub-counties in Kiambu County that has 26 new locations and 46 new sub-locations.

The new administrative unit which was gazetted on June 4, this year is expected to streamline public administration and delivery of services to the people and bring to an end complaint by local residents that they travel for long distances to access government services.

Mr Stanley Mutua who is the DCC for the new Sub-County, a sub-county police commander and other administrators are expected to be deployed to the area.

Speaking during the opening of the new Sub-County in Ndaeiya CS Matiang’i assured the locals that the Construction of the new administrative block that will host the new Sub-County offices will commence immediately

Kiambu County Commissioner Wilson Wanyanga on his part said the county security team will root out criminal activities which have been experienced in the area.

He said criminals were taking advantage of the long distances to access sub county headquarters to perpetuate crime.

Limuru MP Peter Mwathi, the chair of the National Administration and Security Committee of the National Assembly applauded the government for creating the new sub county saying locals will not be forced to travel for long distances seeking services from the office of DCC Limuru and Kiambu.

“We appreciate the government led by President Uhuru Kenyatta for giving us this new sub county. This means people will feel the presence of the government near them,” he added.

A local resident, Fidelis Ngaruiya appreciating the new administrative unit said many young people had no IDs and the closeness of sub county offices will ensure people can easily get IDs among other government documents.

The CS also later commissioned construction of Munanda-ini Police Post in Bibirioni and Thigio Police Station in Ndeiya.
