Governor unveils youth resilience programme

Mombasa Governor Abdulswamad Sharif Nassir has launched programme dubbed  Mombasa ni yangu  that targets to engage  over 2000 youth  in profitable opportunities.

The program will see youth work in different sectors around the county such as keeping the county clean, tour guidance, beach safety Martials, traffic flow enhancement and beautification of the county.

Youth empowerment was a key driving force that the county boss had pledged during his campaign.

Speaking during the official launch of the programme at the Mombasa County assembly offices, the county boss stated that the program will run for 3 months.

Nassir noted that the long term goal is to make the county business friendly by indulging all tribes and gender in business and work in the county.

On matters of drug abuse, the governor said in order to fight the vice concerted effort was needed from both the leaders and security agents as well as the public with the sole aim of targeting drug suppliers and users.

“Some of our health centers need to be converted into rehabilitation centers to address the issue of drug and substance abuse. Khat and alcohol trade licenses will be spent on education and rehabilitation purposes”, said Nassir.
