West Pokot governor Simon Kachapin has vowed to enhance public service delivery in the year 2024 by being more responsive in addressing the needs and issues raised by the residents.
Speaking during the New Year celebrations which were held at Chelanga Gardens, Makutano town in West Pokot County, the governor emphasized that the residents of West Pokot elected their leaders with the expectation that they would diligently serve them.
Kachapin stated that it has been one and half years since assuming office and significant progress has been made in various sectors of the economy, including health, agriculture, roads, and water.
He expressed his gratitude to the residents for their support and collaboration, which has resulted in further advancements in development.
The county boss said that he has had discussions with members of the county executive committee, and they have reached a consensus that the year 2024 will be prioritised in providing better services to the residents.
“We have agreed that there will be no laxity in service delivery and we will work together so that we improve the lives of people of West Pokot County,’’ said the governor.
Kachapin thanked the national leaders including the Kapenguria MP Samuel Moroto, West Pokot County women representative Rael Aleutum and other leaders, for their participation in the New Year celebrations with residents.
He also emphasised the importance of the leaders’ effective coordination, which has facilitated the smooth delivery of services by the county government urging leaders and residents to continue working together as a team to promote development.
Kachapin noted his commitment to collaborating with residents and leaders in the year 2024 to address the issues of insecurity and other challenges faced by the county.
He also promised to give out bursaries to support school-going children, to ensure no child drops out of school.
