Governor Ojaamong promises an enabling environment to political players

Busia Governor Sospeter Ojamoong’ has pledged to offer an enabling environment to all political players eyeing for various seats in the 2022 general elections.

Addressing top party leadership of National Reconstruction Alliance (NRA) Party of Kenya led by founder member Dunstan Riziki who had paid him a courtesy call at his office, the Governor told leaders to learn to position themselves at county and national levels.

The County chief told parties gearing for next year’s polls to embrace the culture of negotiations, failure of which will be their undoing in terms of representation.

The talks centred on national and county politics, economic modelling strategy and 2022 general elections.

Ojaamong said Busia has six MPs from ODM party and two from NASA, but the county has not reaped much from that gesture except for the Chief Administrative Foreign Affairs Ababu Namwamba.

He added ” Kakamega, Vihiga and Bungoma have few ODM MPs but have many people in Government due to lack of platform for negotiations at national and regional levels; it’s also unfortunate that lack of harmonized tax regime has hurt the economy of the border county and not well placed to negotiate at EAC level.”

Riziki said the NRA is partnering with the US, Sweden and Norway to train aspirants vying for various seats through online classes to enable them know their roles, mandates and responsibilities, and voters to make right decisions during the polls.

“We came to visit the Governor to share with him our vision and to learn from his 20 years of exemplary leadership. We also want him to link us to the elders where we intend to share our agenda,” he said.

The party founder member said NRA is the party for the future and will field presidential candidates in next year’s elections.

“We shall field Eric Oigo for the Bonchari Constituency by-elections and Charles Wanyuhi for the Kiambaa by-election,” he said.

The Party Secretary General Amemba Magufuli lauded the Governor for being a seasoned and experienced politician, noting that he is now a reformed politician who cannot hurt a fly.

Director of Campaigns and Elections, Joshua Nyabayo said it has been a long journey, going through hell in having the party registered. However, he noted that they have made progress in opening 41 offices across the county with the headquarters in Ngong.
