Narok Governor Patrick Ntuntu has expressed his deep satisfaction with the restoration of peace in previously volatile regions along the Narok-Kisii and Narok-Migori borders, as well as the Enoreetet area, following years of inter-ethnic tensions.
Speaking during an interdenominational Palm Sunday service held at Mutenkuar Primary School in Kilgoris Central Ward, Governor Ntuntu commended national efforts that have led to the return of calm and stability in these conflict-prone zones.
The service, which brought together congregants from 14 churches, was graced by the Deputy President of the Republic of Kenya, Prof. Kithure Kindiki, marking his first official visit to Narok County since assuming office.
“This occasion was not only a celebration of faith and unity but a powerful symbol of national cohesion,” said Governor Ntuntu.
“I am gratified by the return of calm in areas previously affected by inter-ethnic conflicts, notably along the Narok-Kisii and Narok-Migori borders, as well as the Enoreetet area. I took this opportunity to express my sincere appreciation to the Deputy President for his instrumental role in restoring peace during his tenure as Cabinet Secretary for Interior and National Coordination.”
The Narok-Kisii and Narok-Migori border regions have in recent years witnessed recurring clashes, largely driven by disputes over land, grazing rights, cattle rustling and ethnic rivalries.
These conflicts have disrupted livelihoods, displaced families, and strained inter-community relations.
Governor Ntuntu noted that the visit by the Deputy President signals the national government’s continued commitment to fostering long-term peace and development in Narok County.
He further announced that President William Ruto is expected to tour the region later this month and into the next, where he will commission key development projects in the region.
The Palm Sunday event emphasized the role of faith-based institutions in promoting unity and healing in the aftermath of conflict.
Leaders and congregants alike joined in prayer and renewed calls for peaceful coexistence among the diverse communities of Narok County.
