Narok County Governor Patrick Ntutu has today delivered his third state of the County address at the County Assembly chambers.
In his address, he reiterated his key achievements since he took over office for the first term as the second governor.
He revealed that he had put a lot of attention in improving the health sector so as to take the much-needed health services to the grassroots and reduce the burden of traveling long distances to seek for medical attention.
“76 new health facilities have been built, comprising 33 maternity and 43 outpatient facilities, out of which 28 facilities have already been commissioned and open to the public,” he said.
The county government has also improved infrastructure and ensured steady supply of drugs in all the facilities.
“We can confirm that the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) has already admitted students after my administration intervened,” he said.
The governor reported that since he assumed office, there has been an increase in the number of Open Defecation Free (ODF) villages from 876 to 1199. This means a lesser number of people are defecating in open as compared to three years ago.
The prevalence of HIV/AIDS in the county has also reduced from 2.7 percent in 2022 to 1.8 percent in 2024.
Governor Ntutu announced that the resumption of ambulance services was a big relief to the residents, saying the ambulances are stationed in various sub county headquarters to serve the growing population.
The ambulance services, he said, had been discontinued due to inherited financial constraints and management issues.
On ICT and E- Government, Ntutu announced that the county is in the process of establishing 30 ICT hubs, where each of the 30 wards will benefit from an ICT hub.
The initiative, he said, will help to provide a wide area network and provide citizens with essential government services, E-learning resources and empower our communities with digital literacy.
“We are in the process of providing a wide area network whose aim is to connect all county departments. Once completed, it will facilitate efficient communication, data sharing and collaboration among the departments,” he continued.
“In Agriculture, 2228 farmer groups will be taught new farming methods so as to adapt new farming methods and make more profits. This year, we were ranked number two nationally in Agriculture performance, attaining a World Bank award of Silver Medal. This recognition is a confidence statement to the county’s commitment to implementing tactful policies, empowering farmers and improving food security and sustainability”, stated Ntutu.
On Own Source Revenue collection, Governor Ntutu revealed that he is the top governor in the country in revenue collection, noting that he intended to double the collection to Sh6 billion in the current financial year.
The governor also commended the good working relationship between the two levels of government that has facilitated the delivery of services in the county.
Present during the address was the Narok County Assembly Speaker Davis Dikirr, who welcomed the governor and committed to continue supporting his administration so as to deliver services to the members of the public.
A host of County Executive Committee members, Chief Officers, directors and members of the public were also present in the county assembly.
