Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu has called for fast compensation of families affected by construction of Kitui-Kibwezi road.
Speaking at Kyatune in Kitui South Sub-County Sunday, the Governor decried delays in compensation noting construction work had already begun.
She called on the Ministry of Lands in collaboration with the National Lands Commission to fast-track the process saying residents had waited long enough.
She was accompanied by Lands Principal Secretary Dr. Nicholas Muraguri, Kitui County Commissioner Samuel Kimiti and a section of County Executive Committee Members and Chief Officers among other top national and County Government officials.
Referring to a recent visit in the region by former Jubilee vice chair David Murathe, Miambani MCA who is also Kitui County Assembly Deputy Minority leader Alex Nganga asked Murathe to keep off Ukambani politics.
Recently Murathe was a surprise guest at a section of Wiper Party leaders meeting hosted by Kalonzo Musyoka where he purported to endorse the former Vice President as a preferred candidate for Presidency.
“As a community we will sort ourselves before 2022. For now, anyone in the region interested in running for the Presidency can declare their interests and later we will present our preferred candidate,” said Ng’ang’a.
