Kwale County Governor Salim Mvurya has called for high quality service delivery to the public.
Mvurya has implored County employees to go an extra mile in the execution of their work and constantly engage the citizenry to improve service delivery to the best possible.
Mvurya said his regional administration is committed to ensuring that public servants operate in a professional manner and act with a sense of urgency in the provision of services to the people.
Speaking in Kwale town on Tuesday, Mvurya urged the County Staff, especially Senior Public Officers to interact with the people on a regular basis for effective service delivery.
The two-term Governor said going forward he will be driving the push for a new focus on service delivery to remake the relationship between his administration and the people.
He said the commitment to the idea of excellence in service delivery is a powerful force in building trust with the public but requires a fundamental shift in mindset.
The Governor who was accompanied by his Deputy Fatuma Achani and several County Executive Committee members spoke when he flagged off 120 bicycles and 37 motorbikes to officers in the Departments of Health, Agriculture and Public Service and Administration.
“We are handing over bicycles and motorbikes to Agricultural Extension Officers, Ward Officers, Community Health Workers and Village Administrators with strict instructions that they will perform their duties diligently and effectively while serving the people,” he said.
He said he will not tolerate any laziness and corruption on the part of County employees in the execution of development programmes and service delivery.
“Public Officers should stay away from corrupt practices and uphold integrity at all times,” he said, adding that those who exhibit acts of laxity and laziness in the performance of their duties will face the consequences of their actions.
The County boss has called on all public servants in the region to stand up and be counted so that they can be of service to the populace.
“I want to urge all the County Executives to be accountable, sensitive and respectful of the people and strive to improve in areas where there are still gaps like in service delivery,” he said adding that they should interact with the people to know what was happening on the ground.
