Former Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero has tested positive for Covid -19, barely a week after getting his Covid-19 vaccination.
The former County boss confirmed he tested positive on Wednesday morning through his Face book account.
Kidero says he underwent a test for the disease on Tuesday, April 6 together with his family members after he exhibited Covid-19 symptoms.
Kidero in his face book page stated that after the vaccination last week, said he got symptoms related to Covid-19, making a decision to go for the test with the rest of his family members.
“I got vaccinated against Covid-19 last week on Monday, then I developed reaction three days later,” he wrote on his social media account.
He said the results were released today and that he was the only one infected with the virus, adding that he will go into isolation for the next two weeks.
The Ministry of Health latest record show that 370,000 Kenyans have so far been vaccinated against COVID-19, with Lamu recording the lowest number of people at 262.
Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe however noted that a total of 277 adverse effects from the vaccine have been reported across the country.
“These include headaches, and other side effects with the majority of these reported to have cleared within a 2-day period”, he added
“You can get vaccinated today and it does not mean you can’t suffer any other effects such as hypertension or diarrhoea. If this happens after the vaccine, it may not mean such effects were caused by the vaccine,” said Dr. Collins Tabu, Head of Immunization, Ministry of Health in a previous media brief.
The total confirmed positive cases in the Country are now 139,842 with cumulative fatalities to COVID 19 standing at 2,258.
