Embu county governor has commissioned a new medical complex, Martin Wambora ward and an oncology centre.
The new medical complex will host 240 beds and will contribute to county revenue.
While commissioning the complex Friday, Governor Martin Wambora noted that services at oncology centre will be fully operational from next week, every Tuesday.
Wambora said already the county government has trained doctors and nurses and a clinical officer who will be manning the centre.
“We have also equipped the centre with necessary equipment for early detection of diseases,” he added.
The governor also said the county government will soon be offering sample analysis for DNA at the Embu level five hospital, adding that the molecular laboratory is almost ready.
“We will no longer be taking our samples for laboratory analysis to South Africa but we shall be doing it here in our county hospital,” he noted.
Wambora also promised to increase the number of staff at the level five hospital which is overstretched in service delivery, especially now that some of the neighbouring counties are on strike.
He further said that to improve health services delivery, the county government will establish 20 health facilities across the county, while upgrading existing ones.
“We are determined to support President Uhuru Kenyatta on the pillar of universal health care,” he noted.
