Though he last played darts many years ago when he was at the university and secondary schools, Kericho Governor Paul Chepkwony yesterday proved he was still a force to reckon with in the game after he beat his opponent.
Chepkwony is among players representing the county in darts in the on-going Kenya Inter Counties Sports and Cultural Association (KICOSCA) games and athletics being held in Kericho County.
He beat his opponent Nzuki Nzalu by a set of 3-2 in the preliminary stages competition held at Urwo Inn.
“We are doing well and hope to progress to the finals. We’re up to the task and we will walk over our opponents,” the governor who is among five dart players representing the county said after finishing the game.
He conceded he had not done enough practice ahead of yesterday’s game despite the win.
The governor said he used to be the best darts and volleyball games player while a student at Kericho Boys’ High School, Moi University and later Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology where he studied for his Master’s degree.
They will later meet with Nairobi and Nakuru teams as the games progress.
Meanwhile governor Chepkwony said KICOSCA games was progressing well and everything was proceeding as planned.
