Governor Barasa urges leaders to foster national unity

Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa has urged elected leaders to set aside political differences, foster national unity and focus on improving service delivery to Kenyans.

Speaking during the 61st Jamhuri Day Celebrations at Kakamega Show Ground, Governor Barasa said leaders should always have the desire to create harmony and cohesion in the country noting that President William Ruto has set a good example.

“It’s now time for development, politicking is over and it is up to us leaders who were elected to serve the people who entrusted us with positions in various capacities so that they can evaluate our performance come 2027,” he noted.

The Governor thanked the President and Azimio Leader Raila Odinga for expressing willingness to have a fully constituted Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).

He said there is need to have a functional IEBC to be able to discharge its mandate including carrying out by-elections that have delayed.

“All leaders should work together so that we can have a fully constituted and functional IEBC,” he added.
