Kwale Governor Fatuma Achani is calling on local and foreign investors to consider investing in the coastal county describing it as having natural wealth and safe environment for investment.
Achani promised to provide the favorable environment for investors to thrive and contribute to its development.
She says Kwale County is open for partnerships and engagements that attract investments and pave the way for collaborative developments.
Achani says Kwale will support investments from all sectors that seek to create jobs and wealth for the people in the coastal region.
“We are cognizant of the fact that investment is key to accelerating socio-economic growth,” she said, adding that the county authorities have been striving to create a friendly investment climate.
Achani noted that the county has embarked on policies aimed at streamlining the business environment for sustainable and mutually beneficial investments to foster faster economic growth and job creation.
She expressed confidence that the economic climate in Kwale was conducive enough for businesses to prosper further asserting that the county provides a great investment opportunity.
She was speaking while she received in Kwale the Indonesian Ambassador to Kenya Dr. Mohamad Hery Saripudin and his accompanying delegation.
During their encounter they exchanged cordial conversations and discussed areas of possible cooperation where the devolved government can partner with the Indonesian government through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The two discussed possible areas for trade and investment partnerships and cooperation where the county government of Kwale can work closely with the Indonesian government through leveraging expertise, networks and resources to further drive economic growth.
“As a devolved government we remain committed to growing our local economy through formidable collaborations with public, private and foreign stakeholders,” she said.
She went further, ‘we had productive discussions with the Indonesian envoy on fostering a strong working relationship between the county government of Kwale and Indonesia,’
She says Kwale seeks ways and means in which tourism, culture and heritage of the county bordering the Indian Ocean will be promoted to the outside world with the aim of attracting tourists as well as exposing its rich and diverse culture.
The coastal county boss says discussions centered on key areas of potential collaboration, including the blue economy, agriculture, education, mineral resources, infrastructure and energy sectors that hold immense promise for investment and development in Kwale.
Achani says the local leadership remains committed to building strategic partnerships that will drive economic growth and improve the lives of the people.
Governor Achani stated that Kwale is positioning itself as an ‘investors dream’ and a launch pad to reach other coastal counties such as Mombasa, Kilifi and Lamu.
Ambassador Saripudin took the opportunity to encourage Kwale students to explore educational opportunities through scholarships offered by his government, further strengthening ties.
The envoy assured the governor that the Indonesian government will support the devolved government of Kwale in development projects that are focused on growing the county’s economy through job creation.
“We are ready to work with Kwale in terms of offering full scholarships for local students to study in Indonesia, especially maritime courses which can also benefit the county government of Kwale in terms of skilled personnel,” he said.
Saripudin said he is committed to strengthening the long standing relationship between Kenya and Indonesia and developing their economies for their mutual benefits.
