Governor Achani launches road projects to boost infrastructure

Kwale Governor Fatuma Achani has launched multiple rural road projects to enhance the local economy and boost infrastructure in the coastal county.

Governor Achani says the new road projects will enhance the economic development and social welfare of the people and open up the county for investment.

Achani says the development projects will have a positive impact on the residents and significantly improve infrastructure and create abundant opportunities for economic and social advancement for the people.

She was speaking when she presided over the groundbreaking of two crucial first-rate roads in Msambweni Sub County.

Achani acknowledged the poor state of roads in the sub-counties and expressed the county government’s commitment to providing good roads and other infrastructure projects to improve the socio-economic well-being of the people.

The Governor was accompanied by her Deputy Chirema Kombo, Msambweni MP Feisal Bader, and his Lunga Lunga counterpart Mangale Chiforomodo.

The leaders also inspected the progress of other ongoing road projects and commended the contractors for the work done so far.

Tarmacking of the 2.8 km Kona ya Polisi-Msambweni Hospital road and 1.0 km Mangwei-Majoreni road in Ramisi and Pongwe/Kikoneni wards, respectively, will cost Sh170 million and are expected to boost socio-economic activities.

The Governor says the two road projects are expected to ease the transportation problems the sub-counties are facing.

“The new high-quality road projects will greatly enhance transportation for people and goods, particularly during inclement weather conditions,” she said, and she urged the contractors to ensure speedy and hitch-free completion of the projects.

Achani said the contractors handling the construction of rural roads would be closely supervised to ensure that the quality of work was not compromised.

She said that her administration would continue to embark on more developmental projects for the benefit of the people.

The coastal county boss stated that the roads would help to ease pressure on the local transport system and in turn boost the local economy for the farming communities.

Achani has said she remains focused on serving the people by bringing them development, pointing out that this is the reason people voted for her.

MP Bader said the road projects will boost economic activities in the respective project areas and asked the contractors on-site to ensure they worked meticulously to complete the projects in accordance with the specified timelines.

The legislator says the county needs to do more in terms of road infrastructure so as to address the economic gaps in the subcounties.

Bader urged the county to ensure quality work and speed in the ongoing construction and rehabilitation of roads in his constituency and also urged the Governor to ensure that all roads whose construction is yet to commence do so promptly.

MP Chiforomodo says the rural roads would connect people in rural communities with urban areas and allow for the free flow of farm produce.

The lawmaker says that without good roads, farm produce would not get to the market in good time, and a lot would get spoiled on the farms or while being transported.
