The Government will construct stadiums that meet the international standards across the country.
Cabinet Secretary for Youth Affairs, Sports and Arts, Ababu Namwamba speaking during the launch of training of youth on digitization in Bunyala Sub County Saturday, said that a number of stadia across the Country are not good enough to offer training to teams that can compete at the International level
“We want to transform our sporting facilities and in the next two or three years, we are going to have training facilities that are of International standards,” he said.
The CS stated that the Ministry of Sports has stopped construction of any new stadium until a new plan is produced by the government.
“We have suspended construction of all sporting infrastructure,” he said, adding that the Ministry was coming up with a master plan for our new facilities.
The CS further said that the Bottom Up football tournament will be launched next month from the ward, Constituency and County level.
“The move will help in talent identification among the youth, hence forming a new national football team.
