Government service delivery unit emphasizes teamwork in projects

Proper coordination between National and County Governments has enabled the fast tracking of various ongoing development projects in Nandi County, the visiting National Government Coordination Secretariat (NGCS) team have been told.

Over twenty officials led by Alfred Diru during their status of works verification visit learned that the County Government of Nandi and area residents at large have embraced National Government steered projects by giving needed help when called for.

Details of cordial working relationships emerged when the NGCS team asked the site contractors’ representatives of various projects whether the community and the County Government were giving them needed help.

On her side for instance, Rahab Njoroge, Project Clerk of Works at Emgwen Constituency Affordable Housing revealed that there was immense support from the Nandi County Government.

She said regular visits from the officials from the County Government of Nandi with the aim to understand the progress of works has given them support to have attained over 75 percent of the works completion at the site.

Njoroge said quick response to issues of sourcing local labour to work at the site was promptly attended by the county representatives giving the contractor and other technical employees at the site ability to deliver their services faster.

“We have reached this status of works because the County Government of Nandi and the Community understands and have embraced the ambitious National Government affordable housing project,” she said.

She thanked the area chief and even the locals within Kapsabet town for providing security for the site work progress.

In a report presented to the NGCS visiting team, the 220 units Emgwen affordable housing project was 76 percent complete with approximation completion date at the end month of May.

The works representatives at Mosoriot Economic Stimulus Market echoed the same sentiments that the works were going smoothly with maximum support from the community and the County Government of Nandi.

According to them, the community supplied locally sourced materials at ESP Mosoriot proposed market with the majority of employees from the surrounding area.

The NGCS team was told that students from Technical Vocational and Training institutions from Nandi were given industrial attachment training with some of them performing exceptionally.

“We have agreed with the locals, without compromising with the quality of work and government procurement procedures, to supply some of the construction materials sourced locally,” Mosoriot ESP Proposed Market Constructions Foreman Joseph Olale said.

Proposed Mosoriot ESP Market in Chesumei Constituency is currently 79 percent complete with the end of May as the estimated dates of completion.

When completed, the market is also expected to have a mother’s room, children play areas, ICT hub areas, food court and kitchen architectural design.

Nandi East Deputy County Commissioner Ngalia Ndaya represented the Nandi County Commissioner Caroline Nzwili during site visits. Government Delivery Services officers and the officers from the office of the Prime Cabinet Secretary were represented.

The team also visited Kaiboi National Polytechnic in Mosop Constituency where they verified the progress of work at the proposed Kaiboi ICT Complex.
