The government is developing a comprehensive policy paper to address the challenges facing the minority and marginalized communities in the country.
Officials from the directorate the Director of Minority and Marginalized Affairs under the Executive Office of the President are on a two days retreat in Machakos County to develop a concept paper to facilitate empowerment and inclusive of less advantaged communities.
The Director of Minority and Marginalized Affairs, Hon. Josephat Lowoi, said the workshop would focus on developing a comprehensive concept paper and matrix for ethnic minorities and marginalized communities.
He said the document aims to outline the strategic framework and the a roadmap to address the unique challenges faced by minority and marginalized groups
“Through this collaborative discussions and expert insights, the participants worked tirelessly to ensure that the concept paper reflects the diverse needs and aspirations of these communities “he said
Speaking during the closing ceremony, Hon. Lowoi expressed optimism that the paper would develop a framework for entrenching an inclusive and equitable society, adding that the government remains committed to addressing the needs of Minorities and Marginalized communities.
Noting that “The outcomes of this retreat will play a crucial role in shaping policies and programs that promote social justice and equity,” Lowoi said the Concept Paper that would guide the government in effectively addressing the needs of these communities.
He observed that on the second day, the focus shifted to the development of a detailed matrix. This matrix included specific timelines, responsible parties, and resource allocations to ensure the successful integration of Minorities and Marginalized communities into the national development agenda. “The matrix is designed to serve as a practical tool for implementing the strategies outlined in the concept paper,” he added.
The matrix includes specific goals, timelines, and measurable outcomes to track progress and ensure accountability.
