Goons Loot Police Armory

Police in Kisumu are in hot pursuit of criminals who broke into Kibos Police armory and made away with three riffles and several rounds of ammunition.
According to a police report, the robbers struck at 11:30 pm and broke into the armory before escaping with the firearms through a neighbouring sugar plantation.
An officer manning the post is said to have left his duty station when the gang broke into the armory leaving the steel door to the highly secured armory wide open.
Muhoroni OCPD David Miniu, while confirming the incident said the thugs struck at about 11 pm and made away with several rounds of ammunitions.

He said the officer in charge at the time reported that he briefly went to his house and upon return found the armory had broken into.
A G3 rifle; an Mp5 rifle and an L1A1 rifle were stolen alongside two G3 magazines, two MP5 magazines and another 155 rounds of ammunition.
Police reinforcement was called in from Miwani Police Station to help comb the sugarcane plantation.
The officers spent the better part of the morning combing the area in search for the firearms and suspects.
The OCPD says a combine search is still currently underway in the area and adjacent areas to purse the thugs with residents urging the police not to relent to ensure that the firearms in the wrong hands are recovered.

He says the officer who was on duty is equally helping with investigations.
