Police in Trans Mara East Saturday recovered the body of a 17-year-old girl who is alleged to have died from an abortion gone wrong in a rental house at Njipship trading centre.
Confirming the incident, Trans Mara OCPD Mr. Joel Syuki said the girl who has been identified as Scovia Chepngètich had gone missing from their home only for her body to be found in the rented house s few days later.
“The body had physical signs that showed that she was trying to procure an abortion and lost a lot of blood in the process, but a postmortem will be performed to confirm the exact cause of the death,” said the OCPD.
Nobody has been arrested in connection with the incident but police have commenced investigations.
The body was moved to Kapkatet hospital mortuary in Kericho county pending postmortem.
